How to prepare for a consultation with a heart surgeon?

Before the consultation (both face-to-face and remote), you are asked to prepare and present to the specialist at least the following examination results and medical records:

blood test results (preferably including previous blood tests to assess changes in dynamics);
the results of previous cardiac investigations (coronary angiography, electrocardiogram, echocardiography, etc.);
previous investigations related to the vascular system, lungs, abdominal organs, thyroid or nervous system;
a list of medicines you take on a daily basis (exact name, dosage, route of administration);
previous hospital discharge summaries.

How does a consultation with a heart surgeon work?

During the consultation, the cardiac surgeon will assess your cardiovascular condition, prepare and explain in detail a possible surgical treatment plan or review an already established treatment plan. During the consultation, additional tests or examinations may be carried out to clarify the diagnosis and ensure a more successful treatment process. The cardiac surgeon will also make recommendations for the post-operative period to facilitate a quicker recovery and return to your normal daily life.

Results after consultation

After the consultation, you will receive comprehensive information about the surgical treatment options that are right for you, the plan that has been drawn up and the expected recovery time. The surgeon will inform you about the expected results of the surgical treatment and further prevention of cardiovascular health.

What are the clinic opening hours?

The Skride Heart Clinic is open on weekdays from 8:00 to 20:00 and on Saturdays from 10:00 to 15:00.

Where is the clinic?

Skride Heart Clinic is located at 62 Krišjāņa Valdemāra Street, close to the Skanstes neighbourhood. The entrance to the clinic is on the side of the Aloja quarter/ courtyard.

How to get here?

The clinic is easily accessible by public and private transport.

The clinic can be easily reached by trolleybus 3 (3 minutes walk from the clinic on Krišjāņa Valdemāra iela, stop “Alojas iela”) and tram 11 (4 minutes walk from the clinic along Alojas iela towards Miera iela, stop “Dzemdību nams”).

Is free parking available for clinic clients?

Yes, for the convenience of the clinic’s clients, there is a Europark car park in the courtyard of the Aloja Quarter (at Kr. Valdemāra Street), where we provide free parking for clinic patients for up to 3 hours by registering your car number at the clinic reception.

Is there a place to leave children during the visit?

Yes, there is a children’s room in the clinic where young guests can spend time while they visit.

Is the clinic accessible?

The Skride Heart Clinic provides an accessible environment for all our patients and guests.

The interior of the clinic is easy to navigate for wheelchair users and parents with pushchairs – all entrance and exit doors are threshold-free and on the same level as the common areas, lift anteroom and corridor. The clinic also has toilets and showers that are adapted for people with reduced mobility.

People with reduced mobility can access the clinic premises via the main entrance of the building from Alojas Street. The clinic is located on the 2nd floor and can be accessed via one of the four passenger lifts in the building.

The clinic’s internal navigation system is also available in Braille.
