What is an arrhythmologist

An arrhythmologist is a doctor who specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders. It is advisable to consult an arrhythmologist if you notice abnormal heart rhythms such as irregular heart rhythms, abnormally fast or slow heart rate, palpitations and palpitations, or other symptoms associated with abnormal heart rhythms such as dizziness, shortness of breath or excessive fatigue. Regular consultations with an arrhythmologist are also recommended for patients with implanted pacemakers.

How to prepare for an arrhythmology consultation?

To ensure a more successful consultation, it is advisable to prepare a detailed list of complaints related to cardiovascular health and heart rhythm disorders – their frequency, duration and provoking factors.

Before the consultation (both face-to-face and remote), you are asked to prepare and present to the specialist at least the following examination results and medical records:

blood test results (preferably from a previous blood test, so that changes in dynamics can be assessed);
the results of previous cardiac investigations (Holter monitoring, electrocardiogram, echocardiography);
previous investigations related to the vascular system, lungs, abdominal organs, thyroid or nervous system;
a list of medicines you take on a daily basis (exact name, dosage, route of administration);
previous hospital discharge summaries.

How does an arrhythmology consultation work?

During the consultation, the arrhythmologist performs a detailed examination of the patient, including electrocardiogram (ECG), Holter monitoring or prescription of tests, and explanation of the results of these tests. The most appropriate treatment strategy is then devised and agreed with the patient, which may include medication or procedures that will control symptoms and improve heart health.

Results after consultation

After the consultation, you will receive a detailed diagnosis and treatment plan, which may include medication, pacemaker implantation, including pacemaker adjustment and function testing, as well as electrophysiological procedures to control your heart rhythm and improve your heart health.

What are the clinic opening hours?

The Skride Heart Clinic is open on weekdays from 8:00 to 20:00 and on Saturdays from 10:00 to 15:00.

Where is the clinic?

Skride Heart Clinic is located at 62 Krišjāņa Valdemāra Street, close to the Skanstes neighbourhood. The entrance to the clinic is on the side of the Aloja quarter/ courtyard.

How to get here?

The clinic is easily accessible by public and private transport.

The clinic can be easily reached by trolleybus 3 (3 minutes walk from the clinic on Krišjāņa Valdemāra iela, stop “Alojas iela”) and tram 11 (4 minutes walk from the clinic along Alojas iela towards Miera iela, stop “Dzemdību nams”).

Is free parking available for clinic clients?

Yes, for the convenience of the clinic’s clients, there is a Europark car park in the courtyard of the Aloja Quarter (at Kr. Valdemāra Street), where we provide free parking for clinic patients for up to 3 hours by registering your car number at the clinic reception.

Is there a place to leave children during the visit?

Yes, there is a children’s room in the clinic where young guests can spend time while they visit.

Is the clinic accessible?

The Skride Heart Clinic provides an accessible environment for all our patients and guests.

The interior of the clinic is easy to navigate for wheelchair users and parents with pushchairs – all entrance and exit doors are threshold-free and on the same level as the common areas, lift anteroom and corridor. The clinic also has toilets and showers that are adapted for people with reduced mobility.

People with reduced mobility can access the clinic premises via the main entrance of the building from Alojas Street. The clinic is located on the 2nd floor and can be accessed via one of the four passenger lifts in the building.

The clinic’s internal navigation system is also available in Braille.
