Infectologist consultation

What is an infectologist?

An infectiologist is a doctor who specialises in treating infections.
Many infections can cause liver damage, which is why the specialty of an infectologist is closely linked to that of a hepatologist. All issues related to digestion and liver health, such as chronic liver disease, chronic viral hepatitis, altered liver parameters (ASAT, ALT), elevated bilirubin levels, changes in liver structure visible on ultrasonography, require the consultation of an infectologist or hepatologist.

How does an infectiology consultation work?

During the consultation, the infectiologist will ask about your complaints, review previous examinations and blood tests. The infectologist will assess the need for further investigations to obtain the most accurate information possible.
