Consultation with a rheumatologist

Rheumatologist is a doctor who specialises in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the bones and joints, connective tissue, and systemic diseases involving multiple organ systems.

Service process

The clinic provides the following rheumatology consultations and services:

Consult a rheumatologist to confirm the diagnosis and develop a treatment plan
If you have consulted a specialist (family doctor, cardiologist, etc.) with observations of health problems and complaints, you have been examined and advised to consult a rheumatologist because a rheumatological disease is suspected.

Monitoring and dynamic follow-up of a rheumatology patient
If you have been hospitalised for a rheumatology condition, or if a rheumatology condition has been diagnosed accidentally and requires follow-up by a rheumatologist after discharge from hospital, including assessment and adjustment of drug therapy.

Second opinion
If you have a diagnosis and a treatment plan but need further specialist advice (second opinion). Most often, if the diagnosis has been made and a treatment plan has been drawn up by your GP and you want to check the diagnosis or the treatment you have chosen.

Preventive check-up by a rheumatologist
A preventive check-up is recommended if you experience any of the following health problems (please note that the symptoms listed may also be indicative of diseases of other organ systems, so it is advisable to consult your family doctor beforehand):

joint pain and/or swelling, back pain and stiffness in the morning for more than 30 minutes;
vague prolonged elevated body temperature;
unclear elevated inflammatory markers in blood tests or changes in immunological markers;
blurred skin rashes;
frequent eye irritations;
prolonged dryness of the eyes and mouth;
Fingertip discolouration in cold weather;
the appearance of long, non-healing sores on the legs or arms;
skin thickening appears;
had complications during pregnancy.

Skrides Heart Clinic is open on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Skrides Heart Clinic is located at 62 Krišjāņa Valdemāra Street, not far from the Skanste neighborhood. The entrance to the clinic is from the Aloja quarter/courtyard side.

The clinic is easily accessible by both public and private transport.

The clinic can be easily reached by taking trolleybus No. 3 (a 3-minute walk from the clinic on Krišjāņa Valdemāra Street, stop “Alojas iela”) and tram No. 11 (a 4-minute walk from the clinic along Alojas Street towards Miera Street is the tram stop “Dzemdību nams”).

Yes, for the convenience of clinic clients, there is a ParkExpert car park in the Aloja quarter courtyard (near Kr. Valdemāra Street), where we provide clinic patients with free parking for up to 3 hours upon registering their car number at the clinic reception.

Yes, there is a children’s room in the clinic where young guests can spend time while their parents are having their appointment.

Skrides Heart Clinic provides an accessible environment for all our patients and visitors.

People who use wheelchairs and parents with prams can also move around comfortably inside the clinic – all entrance and exit doors are threshold-free and are on the same level as the common areas, elevator lobby and hallway. The clinic also has toilets and shower rooms that are adapted for use by people with mobility impairments.

People with limited mobility can access the clinic premises via the main entrance to the building from Alojas Street. The clinic is located on the 2nd floor and can be accessed using one of the four passenger elevators in the building.

The clinic’s internal navigation system is also available in Braille.
